![]() ![]() It only got introduced in the Clone Wars story line where it played a major role. The walkers in Star Wars have always been intriguing and this one stands out with its very bug-like appearance due to the elongated octagonal shape and six legs. The extra is the already mentioned AT-TE, a sort of hybrid between a walking gunship and a troop transport in line with more heavily armored ATVs ( Armored Transport Vehicle) like the French AMX-10 in the real world, with the main distinctive feature being the relatively large cannon. As a more friendly alternative you could pick the reverse where there’s at least white Storm Trooper helmets. ![]() I’m all for saturated “deep” blacks, but it’s seeping a bit too much into the greens. The only thing that bothers me is that it looks very dark. They even gave it that Western movie vibe that could be seen in some of the most recent episodes of The Mandalorian by picking one of “those” fonts made popular by movies and TV series of that ilk (completely wrong in terms of typographic history, but that’s a debate for another kind of blog). One can never have enough Mandalorians/ Boba Fett in your life, so the poster is just fine with me. One would certainly not be to blame for the mistaken assumption of this being about the Storm Troopers again. The second comic is a bit weird in that these usually serve as the framing for the extra, but in this case the AT-TE is barely even to be seen. In fact apparently those already exist in the Slave 1 – 20th Anniversary Edition ( 75243), so LEGO wouldn’t even need to invest much in new molds and just focus on the ship. ![]() It certainly would make for an interesting little ship in the collection due to its compact form and somewhat junk-y looks plus the insectoid minifigures. It’s never been available as a LEGO model, but the way it is shown here is quite appealing. The more interesting part for me is that the Mist Hunter makes an appearance, apparently the ship of notorious bounty hunter Zuckuss. The first comic brings us one more Millenium Falcon space chase, but this time it’s helmed by Lando Calrissian and not Han Solo. I’ll see if this sticks and eventually make a clean cut with the switching of the year if necessary. BTW, I’ll keep this dating convention as technically the magazines are still for the next month, not the current one, even though their release has been pushed to the middle of the month. So here with some delay my take on the August 2023 edition of the LEGO Star Wars magazine. Blue Ocean are somehow again behind in their publishing schedule, if only by a few days, but that’s still enough to mess with my own timing for the reviews since I’ve been on the road earlier this week and just didn’t get around to shooting the pictures in a timely fashion. ![]()
